Spirit and Life

Have you discovered for yourself that God’s Word is alive and powerful?

Every Little Daisy

“In Scripture every little daisy is a meadow.” — quote by Martin Luther, from “Thou Givest…They Gather” by Amy Carmichael.

That quote describes God’s Word so well! The Lord tells us in John 6:63b: “the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.”

At the RU Discipleship School, I learned there is treasure found in continuing daily in God’s Word!

It’s how the Lord speaks to us, personally and individually. Being born of the Spirit—saved by grace through faith—we have the Holy Spirit living in us.

As we read God’s Words, the Holy Spirit reveals truth to us. The Spirit ministers to each heart personally.

It’s how we get to know the Lord and have a personal daily relationship with Him!

...If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed;

And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
— John 8:31b-32

“God’s Word gives no encouragement whatever to a shadowy religion and a vague religious experience. It calls us definitely into the realm of knowledge. It crowns religion with the crown of “I Know.” It passes us from the darkness of sin, doubt, and inward misgiving into the marvelous light, where we see clearly and know fully our personal relations with God.” — quote by E. M. Bounds

What a difference it makes to know we can begin each new day with time in God’s Word! He already knows what the day will hold and can supernaturally prepare us with His counsel…

Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.

But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.

And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.
— Psalm 1:1-3

Here’s a video of Bro. Steve Curington teaching the importance of finding our counsel in God’s Word. I encourage you to watch and listen as he shares many practical truths. He explains so much about the Christian life…

“Thy Word is full of promises, flowers of sweet fragrance, fruit of refreshing flavour when culled by faith. May I be made rich in its riches, be strong in its power, be happy in its joy, abide in its sweetness, feast on its preciousness, draw vigour from its manna. Lord, increase my faith.” — quote from Valley of Vision

“Grow up and fall in love. This is the goal of quiet time with the Lord.”
