Who Is Writing Your Story?
Whatever season of life you’re in, remember you are loved by the King! I want to encourage you to allow Him to write your story…
The full soul loatheth an honeycomb;
but to the hungry soul every bitter thing is sweet.
(Proverbs 27:7)
This verse has been true in my own life...those times when I have taken blessings for granted.
The 'full soul' is the soul that is self-filled and hungers only for what it can provide for itself. 'Looking to the ends of the earth', it doesn't see the abundant provision that is right in front of it.
The 'full soul' has been blinded by its own lusts, it 'loathes' (tramples) the 'honeycomb' (God-given blessings).
There was a time when I still had my family...my husband, son, and daughter, an unbroken home. But I became discontent and self-willed ('filled with my own ways').
I 'loathed' (trampled) over the 'honeycomb' (my home and family). If only I could go back and cherish those blessings God had given me!
As a bird that wandereth from her nest,
so is a man that wandereth from his place.
(Proverbs 27:8)
The 'nest' is a picture of God's will.
Just as a bird being in its nest is the place of protection, provision, purpose, and peace...so is the place of being in God's will. When I went out of God's will, I lost His protection and His provision. I lost His purpose and His peace.
I traded God's place of blessing for the stronghold of alcohol and drugs...
Yea, thou shalt be as he that lieth down in the midst of the sea,
or as he that lieth upon the top of a mast.
They have stricken me, shalt thou say, and I was not sick;
they have beaten me, and I felt it not:
when shall I awake ?
I will seek it yet again.
(Proverbs 23:34-35)
I have heard it said, and agree that 'my worst day now is better than my best day then.'
The tears I shed then were tears of pain and hopelessness. But now my tears are sweet and cleansing. They are tears of repentance and thanksgiving!
It's good to be 'on the Potter's wheel.' My heavenly Father is working to conform me to the image of His Son.
I know that everything He allows in my life is for good.
'But to the hungry soul every bitter thing is sweet.'
The 'hungry soul' is the soul that looks to God for its supply. It sees everything as God's plan and trusts God's will as always being a good thing.
I share all this in hope that someone will be encouraged to be content with where God has them.
Don't be blinded by this world. See 'as seeing Him who is invisible.' Don't take for granted the precious blessings of home and family.
