Sweet Victory

One of the beautiful miracles of salvation is that no matter our lot, it can be well with our soul.

Adversity caused hopelessness to come crashing down on me this morning and the Lord soon began to speak to my heart and show me how my response revealed some deeper issues I needed to pray about.

As I prayed, the words to this hymn came to my heart:

“No one ever cared for me like Jesus; There’s no other friend as kind as He.  No one else could take the sin and darkness from me; Oh how much He cares for me.”

I love how the Lord knows how to speak to each of us and comfort us personally.

How do you respond

to adversity?

Do you run to the Lord

for help in time of need?

I spent many years running to alcohol and drugs instead of running to the Lord. This morning I ran to the Lord and found this verse—a beautiful picture of what He does for us!

And I will bring the blind by a way that they knew not; I will lead them in paths that they have not known: I will make darkness light before them, and crooked things straight. These things will I do unto them, and not forsake them. ~ Isaiah 42:16

And I will bring the blind by a way that they knew not;

The way He brings us is through a daily personal relationship with Christ.

For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.
— Isaiah 55:8-9

I will lead them in paths they have not known:

The path He leads us on is the path of life.

Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.
— Psalm 16:11

I will make darkness light before them,

God is light, and in Him is no darkness at all.

For with thee is the fountain of life: in thy light shall we see light.
— Psalm 36:9

and crooked things straight.

His truth transforms our thinking and restores our soul.

He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions.
— Psalm 107:20

These things will I

do unto them,

and not forsake them.

These are God’s promises

and great is His faithfulness!

Through Christ we have

Sweet Victory!
