This post is to encourage Christian writers in communicating their faith for God’s glory!
Being a Christian writer is not like being any other kind of writer! We find our voice by yielding our hearts and pens to the leading of the Holy Spirit.
God has equipped us—in Christ Jesus—with everything we need to write the very words that will reach another heart for Him.
How do we communicate our faith in a way that will glorify God? The answer is described in Philemon 6:
That the communication of thy faith may become effectual by the acknowledging of every good thing which is in you in Christ Jesus.
Communication [2842] koinonia - partnership, sharing, distribution, fellowship.
Effectual [1756] energes - active, operative, effective, powerful.
Acknowledging [1922] epignosis - recognition, full discernment.
Paraphrased:
The sharing of our faith will become effective, operative, and powerful by recognizing and fully discerning every good thing that is in us in Christ Jesus!
What are some of those good things in us in Christ Jesus?
The Holy Spirit
(Ephesians 1:12-14)
That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ.
In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,
Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.
(John 14:26)
But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.
Power
(1 John 4:4)
Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.
(Ephesians 3:20)
Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,
Love
(Romans 5:5)
And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.
(2 Corinthians 13:14)
The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Ghost, be with you all. Amen.
A Sound Mind
(2 Timothy 1:7)
For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
(Psalm 119:24)
Thy testimonies also are my delight and my counselors.
Anointing
(1 John 2:27)
But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.
(Psalm 92:10)
But my horn shalt thou exalt like the horn of an unicorn: I shall be anointed with fresh oil.Hope
(1 Peter 3:15)
But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:
(Hebrews 6:19)
Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and stedfast, and which entereth into that within the veil;
Boldness
(Ephesians 3:12)
In whom we have boldness and access with confidence by the faith of him.
Peace
(Ephesians 2:14)
For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us;(Philippians 4:7)
And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
This list of good things in us in Christ Jesus is just a sampling of the riches we have in Him! By acknowledging these good things in us, our writing becomes powerful for God’s glory.
How do we practice acknowledging these good things?
We can remember these things when we experience doubts and fears as writers. It will help us to look to Christ and His provision for us. Whom God calls, He equips!
We meditate on these things!
Meditate upon these things; give thyself wholly to them; that thy profiting may appear to all. (1 Timothy 4:15)
I invite you to join me in meditating on the good things in us in Christ Jesus—to help the communication of our faith become powerful for God’s glory as Christian writers!
